 Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Six Week Program

with Nancy Lasseter, Ed.S.,LMHC

When: October 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, and 21, 2019

Six Thursday evenings 6-8 pm

Plus a full Day of Mindfulness Sunday, November 3rd, 10 – 4 pm

Classes will be held at a beautiful private residence in Gainesville. Location will be sent to registrants.

This class is open to all members of the community!

This class is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 that has been featured in the PBS documentary Healing and The Mind.  Since its beginning, over 25,000 people have completed this program.

Nancy Lasseter has been teaching MBSR in the Gainesville community since 2004. In addition to her work as an Integrative Therapies Wellness Educator at UF Health Arts in Medicine , she teaches Qigong and has a small private practice as a Mental Health Counselor specializing in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for anxiety, depression, and self esteem issues.

Why Learn Mindfulness Meditation Practices?
Scientific evidence reveals that we can add neurons to the parts of our brain that are most active when we feel happy and alert. Evidence shows that MBSR grads have done this. Happy people, it turns out, live longer, achieve more success, maintain stronger relationships and lead healthier lives. These are pretty good reasons to devote six weeks of your life to this program. Mindfulness meditation is not about trying to empty the mind of all thoughts. Rather, it’s about learning how not to get caught up in the same-old-stories that are constantly filling our minds; stories that often result in unhealthy feelings and reactions.
